Pictures of the final piece for my submission in 's Clay contest.
This Orca was made of Sculpey Polymer clay with a wire/foil/floral-tape skeleton and bulking. Painted with Acrylics and glazed with a clear spray-on glaze (the glaze didn't work too well and left a bunch of bubbles and drips. And it kept sticking to the newspaper I initially was using to protect the work space, so I had to keep repainting contact-spots, as it pulled the paint off).
The lighting is a little meh in these pictures... it gave everything a kind of orange tinge... I should have used the flash or something. The under-side images are about close to the right color. You can see the colors better in the WIP shots [link] where the surface is not so reflective.
As it says on the picture, the tail was my favorite part... there's no wire inside the flukes, they're purely sculpted.
I think that's about it. I had fun working on this and want to make more sculptures now... The Download size is a little bigger than fullview.

When is enough enough... What difference does it make when popular artist vent vent vent and support a site that tolerates deviant behaviour. HA! no wonder its all in a name.

Your Darkest Dreams is a monthly feature devoted to sharing dark photography works from DeviantArt. Often misunderstood as "morbid" or "depressing", Your Darkest Dreams seeks to show this kind of photography in a new way: by showcasing art that is thought provoking, but at the same time unabashedly displays the beauty in darkness.
I can't believe so many artists dedicate their efforts and time to create authentic works of art for us to USE freely! In the world of 3D stocks [ most of it unknown to the photomanipulators ] you can find truly inspiring fantasy and surreal elements that could never be captured by a regular camera. And the best part is that most of them come in a transparent background, so we can simply click and drag onto our work. How fun, fast and easy is that?
A former volunteer with the Artist Relations team, `kuschelirmel has always been a wonderful role model within the community.
With a vibrant and eclectic gallery that would make anyone proud, her dedication to providing informative and easy to follow tutorials, journal CSS, and inspirational stock is clearly long overdue for recognition.
